Alki’s Global Readers attend semi-finals downtown

Alki’s winning Global Reading Challenge group, The Global Readers, trekked downtown on Friday, Mar. 10 to take part in the semi-final round. Six students, representing all of our 4th and 5th grade classes, were amazing ambassadors for our school.  They worked together to answer 24 difficult questions about the ten books they have been reading since November.

They faced seven other teams from various Seattle schools.  Unfortunately, Alki’s Global Readers didn’t advance to the finals but THEY DID have an awesome day: riding the Water Taxi, having a treat at Top Pot, touring the downtown library, riding the Metro, dining at Pepperdocks and ending the day with ice cream. They loved the books they read and are now looking forward to reading new books!

The 4th graders on the team are also looking forward to competing in the GRC next year! Thank you Leona, Aidan, Alec, Addy, Sophia and Adam for your hard work!
