Terry Kegel started the Alki Bike to School program in 2013 while teaching at Alki Elementary School. During his seven years at Alki he demonstrated his commitment to active transportation (active transportation refers to any form of human-powered transportation – walking, cycling, using a wheelchair, in-line skating or skateboarding) daily as he commuted by bike to work at Alki from the North End of Seattle. Rain or shine Mr. Kegel’s baby blue Trek touring bike stood tall in the school bike rack as he modeled safe biking daily in our community. By nominating an Alki student for the Terry Kegel Bike to School Legacy Award you believe the student has demonstrated safe active transportation commuting during bike to school month by their actions.
Completed forms can be submitted to the office or emailed directly to email@example.com, they will be reviewed by an independent committee, some familiar with Mr. Kegel and all familiar with Bike to School Month.
