West Seattle Food Bank – Ongoing Food Drive
Starting this month, Alki will have a bin for food donations that will go to the West Seattle Food Bank.
Our first graders chose to support the WSFB as a part of their community service, and to support their social studies standards of learning the wants versus the needs of families around the world.
West Seattle Food Bank has a Backpack Program which includes a list of nonperishable food items that are given specifically to children. The Backpack Program provided school children at risk of hunger over the weekend with 9,716 packs of six kid-friendly meals weekly in 2018.
We invite all families to participate in the year long Food Drive at any time, but to make things a bit easier to remember we have a schedule that you can put in your calendar.
- October 1st-15th: First and Second Grade
- October 16th- 31st: Third and Fourth Grade
- November 1st-15th: Fifth Grade and Kindergarten
- November 16th-30th: First and Second Grade
- December 1st-December 20th: All Grades!!!!
